Phishing Threat calls the risk of losing confidential Information
by Eng. Hamza Kadwai

Issue identified:

This happened with one of the largest companies operating in Pakistan, where many ransomware threats were identified, and hackers tried to obtain sensitive information of the entity through Phishing attack. There were chances of leakage of sensitive information regarding the organization and their employees. They approached Softech Microsystems for this and we proposed them a solution.

"QUOTEBERS

1Treat your password like your toothbrush. Don't let anybody else use it, and get a new one in every 40 days. -Clifford  Stoll

2If you think technology can solve your security problems, then you don't understand the problems and you don't understand the technology -Bruce Schneier #PhishingThreat

Solution offered:
Softech microsystems proposed them the solution of Barracuda Email Security Gateway which provides comprehensive protection from Email based threats. It is an email security gateway which contains 12 defense layers to protect system from viruses. It offers a 95 percent spam accuracy rate with a 0.01 percent false positive rate. It filters the incoming and outgoing Email and protect them from data
leak, email borne threat like phishing,
ransomware and many other threats. If there is any sensitive data leakage in the Email by an unauthorized person, Email Security Gateway will stop that information going. The solution was best according to the problem identified.

Encryption (Preferably End-to-End)
Rising security standards have made encryption commonplace among software providers. This means that your data is scrambled during transit and then de-coded when it reaches the server. With end-to-end encryption, only the sender and recipient are able to unlock and read the information. The messages are passed through a server, but it is not able to read the messages.

SSL
Speaking of encryption, SSL (or Secure Socket Layer) ensures an encrypted connection between a browser and server. It is the most widely used security protocol on the internet for online banking and shopping sites. Generally speaking, the presence of ‘https://' as opposed to ‘http://’ in the browser address bar indicates that the connection between your computer and the website is SSL encrypted.

Penetration Testing
Penetration testing (also called pen testing) is the practice of testing a computer system or network to find vulnerabilities. The main objective of penetration testing is to determine security weaknesses, but a pen test can also be used to test an organization’s security policy compliance, its employees’ security awareness, and the organization’s ability to identify and respond to security incidents.
